As I've entered the dyfi enduro I decided that I'd best do a long ride on the mega today to test my legs. I also fitted a dinner plate cassette (11-42) yesterday so wanted to try it. I set out and got up the mountain road feeling pretty good and was even getting up ice rink just fine, I managed the difficult corner no worries. Just after that corner though, disaster struck. I pedalled and there was a very fast clicking noise and no movement. "That sounds like the freehub slipping" I thought. Tried to pedal again, same thing. Yup, the freehub was not engaging under any load at all. Great. I was 12km from home so it took me 2 hours to walk/scoot it. I dropped my saddle right down and removed the pedals so that I could scoot along on the flat fireroads/backroads. It's not much fun walking on roads with neither pavement or verge. It reminded me just how much rubbish there is on roadsides - especially busy roads but quiet roads too, it's quite depressing really.
